Overview

Found singly or in pairs, hiding in branching corals, over lagoons and fringing reefs. Both shy and territorial.
Western Indian Ocean - Red Sea

Dottybacks are usually small and often brightly coloured.
They live inside the reefs structure, often at the back of caves and are very territorial and aggressive.
Females lay eggs which are guarded by the males who pick them up in their mouths on a regular basis to mix and aerate them.
