Overview

Found singly or in small colonies, half buried over silty sand and seagrass beds, of inshore waters, usually waving their heads around pointing into the current feeding, quickly disappearing when alarmed.

Garden Eels rise up in the sand halfway their body length waving in the sand feeding on plankton.
When approached they slide back into their holes.
