Overview

Found on the land, close to shorelines, sometimes buried during the day, in damp substrate to prevent water loss, or amongst foliage and debris, over grass and sandy areas, along off-shore shorelines of islands. They keep a supply of water in their shells, replenishing the water nocturnally when they feed.
They feed nocturnally on carrion, flies, and other snails.

Hermit crabs change their shells regularly but only when they find a larger and newer shell to feel safe in!
