Overview
Found singly, or in small schools, during the day hovering over sandy areas of reef flats and slopes, dispersing at night to hunt alone over reefs.
They feed nocturnally on crustaceans, echinoderms and molluscs.
Most members of Lethrinidae are able to rapidly switch on and off dark mottled patterns, spots and bars to deter predators.
