Overview

Found singly, or in small schools, over off-shore rocky bottoms, of trawling grounds, on the continental shelf.
Juveniles found over inshore muddy substrates.

Most members of Lethrinidae are able to rapidly switch on and off dark mottled patterns, spots and bars to deter predators.
