Overview
Found singly, in shallow waters, during the day under dead corals, and on sand, out at night hunting for food at night over the reef.
These shells are sand dwelling carnivores and have a venomous barb which they extend with the speed of light to immobilise their prey.
Their name comes from their spired shells, like a slender auger or screw.
