Overview

Found singly or in schools, over rubble and sandy areas, close to coral reefs. Colour changes from no stripes to stripes when disturbed.
They feed nocturnally on crustaceans, molluscs, sea stars, sea urchins, tunicates, and worms.

Most members of Lethrinidae are able to rapidly switch on and off dark mottled patterns, spots and bars to deter predators.
