I have some more pictures of the fish. I dont´t realy belief in Virgate Rabbitfish (the maculation looks like that...but the shape was completly different)... the dorsal and ventral fins were very long and the ventral one had a black stripe... my first thoughts were, that this are juvenile butterflies - as you wrote.
I wondered, that they accompanied the big Mangrove Red Snappers...
