Description
Also known as Blue Smalltooth Job, Blue Smalltooth Jobfish, Fork-tailed Snapperfish, Jobfish, Olive Smalltooth Jobfish, Silvermouth, Small Jobfish, Smallmouth Jobfish, Smalltooth Jobfish, Snapper Jobbyfish.
Found singly or in small schools, over clear water, inshore lagoons, coral and rocky reefs.
They feed on crustaceans and fish.
Length - 40cm
Depth - 1-120m
Widespread Indo-Pacific
Most Snappers live in moderate depths, however there are a few that live much deeper. Juveniles found on inshore reefs.
They are nocturnal predators that mainly feed on fish, but will eat crustaceans, gastropods and cephalopods.

Posted by AnthonyA regular catch on spinner (Atiu, Cook Islands) evening and early morning, though never more than 3 at a session. Known locally as "Paru". Most welcome catch, - excellent fried or baked. We ate them during a 2 1/2 year stay on the island (no ciguatera experience with this fish)
