Also known as Blackfin Triplespine, Black-finned Triplespine, Blacktail Tripodfish, Hollow-snouted Tripodfish, Sharp-nosed Tripodfish, Shortnose Tripodfish, Silver Horsefish, Silver Leatherjacket, Silver Tripodfish, Tripodfish.

Found over muddy sand flats, along coastlines and in estuaries.
They feed on benthic invertebrates.

Depth - 0-60m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific
