Found in schools, in vegetated backwaters, coastal waters, slow flowing creeks, drains, lakes, ponds, rivers, warm springs and streams. They can vary in colour and pattern.
They feed on algae, small crustaceans and aquatic insects.

Crossbred with other mollies into many colour morphs for the aquarium trade!

A freshwater fish one of the most popular in the aquarium trade as they are easy to keep in various temperatures of water, are prolific live bearers as well as being very varied with their colourful and patterned tails.
