Overview

Found on mud flats, in mangroves, and on oyster banks, of protected bays and lagoons. Beautiful shape, and colour of the shell a pinky/mauve.
They feed on other molluscs, especially clams, and oysters.

Murex shells are highly prized collectors items with their winged and pungent spines.
Some look like walking skeleton shells.
