Overview
Found in schools, over muddy areas of freshwater lakes, rivers and streams.
South America - Amazon
Ripsaw catfish are slow moving and so their bony scutes on the sides of their bodies acts as a defense against predators, hence the name!
They use their barbels to sift through the substrate for their food.
These fish also omit a squeaking sound, hence the name "catfish".
