Rio Grande Cichlid

Found in warm water pools, of small, to large rivers, with lots of vegetation.
Widespread North America

This is the only Cichlid native to the United States. Originally from the Rio Grande drainage of Texas but has been introduced to other areas of North America.

Cichlidae are one of the largest vertebrate families and are popular in the aquarium trade.
