Overview
Found swimming with its head pointing upwards, in very deep waters off-shore.
They feed midwater on crustaceans, fish and squid.
Juveniles swim at the surface with their fins trailing mimicking jellyfish.
Circumglobal
Named because of their slender body and ribbony threadfins, adults rarely seen by divers because they live so deep within the oceans.
