Overview
Found in colonies, in shallow inter-tidal waters and much deeper waters, on the surface of boats, buoys, corals, piers, seaweed, turtles and even crocodiles etc., over coral and rocky reefs. These barnacles attach by the head and send out their fan shaped cirri (Legs) for feeding.
Barnacles form part of the fouling community.
These barnacles attach to anything, even found on crocodiles, where the size of the barnacle shows how long the crocodile has been in salt water.
