Overview

Found amongst algae, under stones, and in tide-pools, of coastal waters, being air breathers they can remain in and out of water for long periods of time.
Widespread North East Atlantic

Zoarcidae are mainly bottom-dwelling fish some to great depths and are eel like in appearance.
Commonly used as a soup ingredient in Mediterranean countries, their bones are great due to harmless pigment!
