Welcome. Yes, juveniles often look different, and you could also compare the fish you saw with Halimeda ghostpipefish - Solenostomus halimeda or S. leptosoma. I thought S. looked close to the one in the photo I can only judge from and yes, it is rather a juvenile.

You must be the only person on this site. Normally I know robust ghost pipefish but that on looked different. perhaps its a juvenile.
