This creature was spotted in 10 feet of water on the sandy bottom at Bari Reef, Bonaire (Caribbean). Approximately 8" in diameter, it had a hard plate on top and two snail-like antennae which it retracted when approached. The resident naturalist, Jerry Ligon, who has been diving in Bonaire for 20 years, was unable to identify the creature. Do you think that this is a sea slug, or a does the hard plate on top suggest a bivalve? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
