I thought it was, too at first, but on looking further up the arm, into the rocky hole it was coming out of you could see the other arms. At least they appeared to be connected, and one of the guides lifted an arm, and the rest came up with it. Unfortunately I couldn't get my camera into the hole to get a picture.
This is one arm of a starfish probably about 40cm across (difficult to tell as most of it was inside a hole in the rock). Seen at dusk.

Did you see anymore of the starfish, only we thought this was a sea cucumber!
