Description

Also known as Berndt's Moray, Berndt's Moray Eel, Y-patterned Moray Eel.

Found over rock and sponge bottoms of coral and rocky reefs.
They feed on crustaceans and small fish.
Length - 100cm
Depth - 30-300m
Widespread Western Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean

Morays open and close their mouths to move water through their gills for respiration.
This behaviour can often be seen as a threat especially towards divers, in fact this is far from the truth, they are very shy creatures and will only attack if provoked! Ref: https://www.fishbase.se/summary/Gymnothorax-berndti.html
