Also known as Bartail Flathead, Bar-tailed Flathead, Estuary Flathead, Flagtail Flathead, Flag-tailed Flathead, Sand Flathead, Western Australia Flathead, Western Estuary Flathead, Yellow-tailed Flathead.

Found singly, lying on mud and sand bottoms, of estuaries and coastal reefs. Mainly nocturnal.
They feed on fish, benthic invertebrates and sand dwelling squid.

Depth - 1-50m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific

Flatheads are closely related to Scorpionfish.
