White-margined Moray (Gymnothorax albimarginatus)

Also known as White-edged Moray, White-fringed Moray Eel, Whitemargin Moray

Description

Also known as White-edged Moray, White-fringed Moray Eel, Whitemargin Moray.

Found singly, hiding during the day, in crevices and under rocks, feeding at night over clear coastal waters of coral and rocky reefs.
They feed on fish and invertebrates.
Length - 100cm
Depth - 6-180m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Morays open and close their mouths to move water through their gills for respiration.
This behaviour can often be seen as a threat especially towards divers, in fact this is far from the truth, they are very shy creatures and will only attack if provoked! Ref: https://www.fishbase.se/summary/52889
