Description

Also known as Black Mantle Snail, Black Valutinid, Five-fingered Sea Snail, Velvet Snail.

Found singly or in pairs, amongst rubble and sandy areas, over intertidal, and subtidal zones, of coral and rocky reefs.
They feed on tunicates.
Length - 10cm
Depth - 0-15m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

The shell of these animals is very thin and delicate, and internal, completely covered by the mantle (which has fused lobes) so the appearance of these animals more closely resembles that of sea slugs rather than sea snails Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriocella_nigra
