Found in schools, close to the surface, or flying and leaping out of the water, flying long distances, in coastal areas and further out at sea.
They feed on crustaceans and zooplankton.

Flying fish are all over the world and are able to fly for up to 50 meters at a time, which enables them to escape predators.
