Description

Also known as Cod, Colorado Grouper, Hind, Mangrove Grouper, Rockcod, Trout, Yellow Grouper.

Found singly, resting on vertical well structured rock formations, like larva ridges and rock walls of rocky reefs.
They feed on fish.
Juveniles found over mangroves, sand and seagrass beds of lagoons.
Length - 120cm
Depth - 3-70m
Widespread Eastern Pacific

Groupers are solitary carnivores that hunt near the bottom usually at dusk. Food is drawn into their mouths by a powerful suction when they open their overly large mouths and then swallowed whole.
