Description

Also known as Blacksaddle Goatfish, Black-saddled Goatfish, Blackspot Goatfish, Black-spotted Goatfish, Red Goatfish, Redstriped Goatfish, Twospot Goatfish.

Found singly, or in schools, foraging for food, over sandy bottoms, in murky coastal waters.
They feed on small fish and invertebrates.
Length - 43cm
Depth - 1-200m
Widespread Southeast Atlantic, Indo-West Pacific

Goatfish have two barbels extending form the chin, these are used to probe the sand for food such as worms, brittle stars, crustaceans and small fish.
They often have other fish in tow which hoover up any creatures left behind.
