Description

Also known as Giant Conch, Pink Conch, Queen Conch Shell, Strombe Rose, True Conch.

Found singly, over algae, gravel, rubble, coral sand, and in seagrass beds, of intertidal and off-shore coral reefs.
They feed nocturnally on benthic algae, detritus, seagrass, and seaweeds.
Length - 35cm
Depth - 1-30m
Widespread Western Atlantic, Caribbean

These conch shells are relatively uncommon because of over harvesting.

Stomboids are a small group of sea snails, commonly found in tropical waters. Usually identified by their large stalked eyes. Their shells are often dull on the outside but can be bright inside, as in these photo's.
