Also known as Banner Pompano, Camade Fish, Cobbler, Gaff-topsail, Gamefish, Great Pompano, Joefish, Longfin Pompano, Old Wife, Palometa, Palometa Jack, Permit, Sand Mackerel, Streamers Jack, Wireback.

Found in schools, close to coral formations of clear shallow coastal reefs.
They feed on crustaceans, fish, insect pupae, molluscs and worms.
Juveniles found over clean sandy beaches.
