The pictured fish is not a moonlight gourami. The moonlight gourami and the gold/three-spot gourami are not the same breed. Gold/Three-spot gourami are trichogaster leeri, moonlight is correctly named above a T. Microlepsis, named for the small scales that give the moonlight gourami its shimmering silver color. Moonlight gouramis do not vary widely in color, but three-spot gouramis do - comprising blue, gold, opaline varieties.
