Description

Also known as Baitfish, Greyback, Sand Smelt, Smelt, Southern Sand Smelt.

Found in schools usually near the surface of clear shallow sandy bays estuaries, lagoons and shorelines.
They feed on aquatic and benthic crustaceans.

Widespread Adriatic Sea, Eastern Atlantic, Black Sea, Mediterranean
