Found in schools usually near the surface of clear shallow sandy bays estuaries, lagoons and shorelines.
They feed on aquatic and benthic crustaceans.

Depth - Shallow
Widespread Adriatic Sea, Eastern Atlantic, Black Sea, Mediterranean
