Description

Also known as Butler's Frogfish, Flagpole Frogfish, Psychedelic Frogfish.

Found singly, pairs, or in trios, sitting on sponges, etc, camouflaged, with the colour and pattern of their seat and surroundings, their ocelli looking like the holes of the sponges they sit on, found over lagoons and fringing reefs rich in sponge growth.
They feed on crustaceans and small fish.

Widespread Eastern Atlantic, Western Atlantic, Caribbean

Frogfish are masters at camouflage and will change to match their surroundings. They lure their prey with a stalk between their eyes that copies the movements of its prey.
