Found singly, or in pairs, living with gorgonian corals and sea whips, usually Junceela fragilis, in silty waters, with strong currents, around drop-off's, and seawalls of inshore reefs.
They feed on zooplankton.

Depth - 6-45m
Widespread Indo-Pacific
