Description

Also known as Leathercoat, Leatherjack, Mackerel, Needlejack, Runner, Shoemaker, Trevally.

Found in large, fast moving schools, often leaping out of the water, over sandy beaches of bays and inlets, also entering murky waters in estuaries.
They feed on crustaceans and fish.
Juveniles found floating head down on the surface of the water.

Depth - 0-50m
Widespread Western Atlantic, Caribbean, Eastern Pacific

These fish have venomous spines on their dorsal and Anal Fins!
