Also known as Amberjack, Diamond Trevally, Diamondfish, Highbrow Pennantfish, Horse Mackerel, Indian Mirrorfish, Indian Thread-finned Trevally, Indian Threadfin, Large Threadfin Jackfish, Mirrorfish, Old Maid, Plumed Trevally, Scad, Threadfin Trevally, Thread-finned Trevally, Trevally.

Found in schools, over coral reefs, in coastal waters usually below 60m.
They feed on crustaceans, fish, and squid.
Juveniles diamond shaped with long trailing filaments, shrinking and then disappearing with age, found close to shores.
Length - 165cm
Depth - 20-100m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

This juvenile is thought to mimic venomous jellyfish with it's long filaments.

Jacks are fast swimming fish that can roam over great distances. The larger fish hunt other fish and the smaller fish eat zooplankton. In turn they are hunted by large Tuna and Dolphins. Ref: https://www.fishbase.se/summary/Alectis-indica
