Description
Also known as Fan Shell, Horse Mussel, Korean Common Penshell, Oyster, Pacific Penshell, Pen Shell, Scaly Penshell, Smaller Pen Shell.
Found on mud and sandy substrates with the ventral portion of the shell facing the current over tidal flats to subtidal areas of coastal lagoons and reefs.
They feed on detritus and plankton.

Depth - 0-200m
Widespread Mediterranean, Indo-West Pacific
Collected in many areas to be used for food and as a fertilizer.
Most Bivalves are permanently anchored in fissures or depressions in the rock surface of the reef, some may become covered in algae and other marine life.
