Found singly or in pairs hiding in the branches of Acropora corals over sheltered lagoons. Their skin is covered in a slimy toxic mucus.
Varies in colour.
They feed on small invertebrates and zooplankton.
Length - 6.5cm
Depth - 0-30m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific

Reef Gobies have the largest and smallest species usually with very distinctive colouring.

Unfortunately these pictures show this Goby without its coral protection in a very large fish tank on Gangehi Island, Maldives!! where every night 20-30 deaths (mostly babies) occur from predatory fish!
These fish are taken each day from the reef to amuse the Italians!!!!
Gangehi is a beautiful island with a wonderful reef that is ruined by the ignorant Italians that run this resort!!
