Description

Also known as Cod, Hind, Honeycomb Rockcod, Lace-finned Rockcod, Rockcod, Specklefin Grouper, Specklefin Rockcod, Speckle-finned Rockcod, Speckled-fin Rockcod, Summan Grouper, Trout, Wavy-lined Grouper, Wavy-lined Rockcod, White-speckled Grouper, White-speckled Rockcod, White-streaked Grouper, White-streaked Rockcod, Wire-netting Cod, Wire-netting Rockcod.

Found singly, in caves and under ledges of lagoons and inner coastal reefs.
They feed on crustaceans and small fish.

Depth - 5-60m
Widespread Indo-West Pacific

Groupers are solitary carnivores that hunt near the bottom usually at dusk. Food is drawn into their mouths by a powerful suction when they open their overly large mouths and then swallowed whole.

    I have a very good photo of one of these, about 8 in long off the north coast of Viti Levu, Fiji in 2012. So I would say they are beyond the Atlantic and Caribbean.
