Description

Also known as Brownback Dottyback, Yellowbelly Dottyback.

Found singly, pairs or in small schools, in caves, crevices and around bommies, of seaward reefs.
They feed on small fish and invertebrates.
Length - 7cm
Depth - 1-20m
Widespread Western Pacific

Dottybacks are usually small and often brightly coloured.
They live inside the reefs structure, often at the back of caves and are very territorial and aggressive.
Females lay eggs which are guarded by the males who pick them up in their mouths on a regular basis to mix and aerate them. Ref: https://www.fishbase.se/summary/57899
