Description

Also known as Bicolor Fairy Basslet, Cleanerfish, Royal Gramma, Royal Gramma Basslet.

Found in ceilings of caves, under ledges or close to recesses in corals sometimes swimming upside down, retreating into these recesses when threatened, will also act as a cleaner fish to others.
They feed on crustaceans, parasites of other fish and zooplankton.
Length - 8cm
Depth - 1-60m
Widespread Western Central Atlantic

Anthias are often found in large schools often in there hundreds or thousands feeding high above the reef on zooplankton.
They start their life off as females and when there is an opening for a male will change to head up their harem of females.
