Found singly often buried in mud or sand with just their eyes showing over reef flats, lagoons and seaward reefs.
They feed on small gastropods.
Length - 20cm
Depth - 0-200m
Widespread Western Central Atlantic

Toadfish can make a load croaking noise with their swim bladders. Their mouth can open and expand to the width of their bodies to engulf large prey.
