Description
Also known as Black Beauty, Black Beauty Snapper, Black-and-White Sea Perch, Black Snapper, Macolor Snapper, Newspaper Fish.
Found singly or in large schools, along channels and steep outer walls, of lagoons and seaward reefs.
They feed on crustaceans and fish.
Juveniles are solitary.
Length - 60cm
Depth - 2-90m
Widespread Indo-Pacific
Most Snappers live in moderate depths, however there are a few that live much deeper. Juveniles found on inshore reefs.
They are nocturnal predators that mainly feed on fish, but will eat crustaceans, gastropods and cephalopods.
