Description

Also known as Brown Moray, Funnel-nostril Moray, Gray Moray, White Margin Moray, White-margined Moray.

Found singly, with their head poking out of crevices and holes in the reef, over lagoons, coral and rocky reefs.
They feed nocturnally on crustaceans and fish.
Length - 120cm
Depth - 5-35m
Widespread Indo-Pacific

Morays open and close their mouths to move water through their gills for respiration.
This behaviour can often be seen as a threat especially towards divers, in fact this is far from the truth, they are very shy creatures and will only attack if provoked! Ref: https://www.fishbase.se/summary/Enchelycore-schismatorhynchus.html
