Also known as Copper Maki, Morwong, Red, Red Bastard Trumpeter, Silver Bastard Trumpeter, Silver Trumpeter, Tassie, White-and-Silver Trumpeter, White Bastard Trumpeter.

Found singly or in schools, sometimes in their thousands, over deep, exposed reefs, of the continental shelf.
They feed on a wide range of benthic invertebrates.

Depth - 2-160m
Eastern Indian Ocean, Southwest Pacific - Southern Australia, New Zealand

They are fished commercially and for sport, considered an excellent table fish.
