Description

Also known as Red Sea Bream, Red Sea Seabream.

Found singly or in small schools over sandy bottoms close to corals in shallow water of exposed coastal reefs.
They feed on algae and small invertebrates.
Length - 25cm
Depth - 1-8m
Western Indian Ocean - Red Sea

Porgies are found in tropical as well as cooler waters and are bottom-dwelling carnivores. Most species possess grinding, molar-like teeth for eating crustaceans.
