Description

Found singly or in small shoals over sandy areas of reefs and seagrass beds.
Juveniles found in seagrass beds.
They feed on worms, crustaceans and molluscs.
Length - 13cm
Depth - 1-90m
Widespread Eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean and Black Sea

Porgies are found in tropical as well as cooler waters and are bottom-dwelling carnivores. Most species possess grinding, molar-like teeth for eating crustaceans.
