Description

Also known as Black-banded Damsel, Black-banded Damselfish, Shorthead Damsel, Short-headed Damsel, Small-headed Demoiselle.

Found singly or in small schools, over silty, sandy bottoms, close to rocks, rubble, and sponges, of lagoons and coastal reefs.
They feed on zooplankton.
Juveniles often found hiding in sea anemones.

Widespread Western Central Pacific

Damselfish are egg layers.
