Found in deep flowing, oxygenated waters, in crevices, over rock, sand and scattered stony areas of the Xingu river Basin of Brazil
They feed nocturnally on small invertebrates.

A freshwater fish often seen in the aquarium trade, often used as cleaners/algae eaters in the tank.
