Also known as English Wyandotte, Flagtail Grunter, Flagtail Perch, Flag-tailed Grunter, Flag-tailed Perch, Yellow Bartail Trumpeter, Yellowtail Grunter, Yellow-tailed Perch, Yellow-tailed Trumpeter.

Found in schools, over shallow sandy bottoms and seagrass beds, in brackish waters of estuaries, mangroves and coastal shorelines.
They feed on algae, crustaceans, benthic and terrestrial insects and worms.
