Description

Also known as Blowfish, Pufferfish, Red Sea Pufferfish, Studded Pufferfish, Swelltoad, Toadfish.

Found over rubble, sand, and in seagrass beds, hiding by burying in the sand when alarmed, over protected, shallow, coastal bays.
They feed on invertebrates.
Length - 16cm
Depth - 3-60m
Widespread Western Indian Ocean, Mediterranean

The bodies of Pufferfish are covered in a toxic mucus, if the skin or flesh is consumed it can be fatal to humans.
